How to Specify Underground Mining Equipment Before Requesting a Quote
A product name is only the starting point. Use this checklist to give suppliers enough mine data to select an exact model and complete configuration.
Start with the work, not the catalog name
Underground equipment is shaped by the mine around it. A request for a mine car, winch, prop, conveyor, or excavator still leaves the supplier with several technical paths. The useful RFQ explains what the equipment must move, support, protect, or excavate and where the work happens.
Describe the physical environment
- Roadway width, height, turns, passing points, and gradient
- Rail gauge, curve radius, track condition, and unloading station
- Roof and floor conditions for support equipment
- Ventilation, water, dust, corrosion, temperature, and hazardous-area requirements
- Access route from surface delivery to the final installation point
Define load, capacity, and duty
State the loaded mass, material density and size, required throughput, pulling route, support resistance, digging cycle, operating hours, and expected starts per hour. These values affect motors, gearboxes, drums, chains, cylinders, structures, and wear parts.
List power and control interfaces

Close with document and delivery scope
Identify the required certificate or local approval, drawings, manuals, inspection records, spare-parts list, language, packing standard, destination, trade term, and delivery target. This lets the supplier price the complete order instead of adding critical items late.
